Based in New York, Beyer utilizes the best fabricators in the world to meet a project's needs for specific materials and fabrication techniques. The artist; who was born in 1966 in Beijing, joined the People's Liberation Army in 1982 where he was trained to paint. He has since become the world's leading Chinese contemporary artist. China China is his best known sculpture series, achieving iconic status. The two faceless figures are clad in Mao suits, and take on a kowtowing stance. They are of slightly different proportions, and have slight variations in their tilt, the one in the rear looking forward and the one in front looking to the sky. They are based on ancient terracotta burial figures and represent the generational views of pre and post-modern Chinese society.<\/p>"
